We would like to invite you
to participate in an upcoming exhibit by nominating any events,
people, places, and things you feel have made a difference in our
county and perhaps beyond.
The exhibit will go on
display by the beginning of 2008 in conjunction with the Minnesota
Sesquicentennial.
To submit a nomination,
e-mail the historical society at
rchsroseau@mncable.net

Year-to-date Nominations:
I
nominate Annette Hermansen for all her hard work and
relentless support for the library and Friends of the
Library. I have not been around while the new library complex
is being built but I can imagine her hand has been involved.
She had wonderful ideas and if I, as Library Director, felt I
did not want to go a certain way, she would respect my wishes
and move on to something else. While I was in Roseau, the
Friends of the Library won the award for Outstanding Friends
of the Library and it was well deserved and Annette was
instrumental in putting together the scrapbook and applying
for the award.
Thank you for contacting me.

I... would like Bob Bergland
nominated for this exhibit for so many obvious reasons. He
has been an outstanding leader and contributor to all of us on
a local, regional, national and global level. Because of his
extensive contributions, I don't think a Roseau County Exhibit
would be complete or even accurate without this gentleman.
Thank you ~

I would like
to nominate the founding fathers of Polaris Industries, Allan
Hetteen, David Johnson and Edgar Hetteen. Without their
invention of the snowmobile, the city of Roseau and the
surrounding area may have never flourished like it has the past
over the past 50 years. It has been an economic boon to the
entire northwestern part of the state and has helped diversify
our population with many new people moving in to our area from
not only other states but other countries. They did really put
Roseau on the map with their creativity and determination!
